Renfrow: the name has changed a bit over
the centuries. About every spelling imaginable has been
used.
Depending on where you look, it's Scottish, Scottish/Gaelic, Welsh, or
something called Brythonic... or maybe it's Cumbric instead.
Well, whatever.
It's a place-name, coming from a town (Renfrew) and the surrounding
area (Renfrewshire) in Scotland.
Generally, it seems to be accepted as meaning "point of the current",
possibly referring to it being located at the point that the rivers
Gryfe, and Clyde meet.
(A bit of trivia: Renfrew is a Royal Burgh, and the current Baron
Renfrew is England's Prince Charles.)
